Vitreous Enamel: In a Pub! at Ma Pardoe's
If you
really want to see how durable vitreous enamel is and enjoy an excellent
pint of proper English beer, go and have a look at the "The Old Swan"
Inn at Netherton in the West Midlands. Locally, it is always known as
Ma Pardoe's after a former landlady.
The ceiling is enamelled,
the usual way of fitting out pubs a hundred years ago. The panels are
original and pretty good even by modern standards. And don't miss the
enamelled signs - it is a real experience.
The beers are brewed on the premises and are superb! - Personal tasting
carried out by the General Manager of the VEA. No food in the bar - it
affects the taste of the beer!
